“Beyond Incarceration: Peace and Citizen Security through Restorative Justice and the Prison-to-College Pipeline Initiative”

The Centre for Criminal Justice and Security (CCJS) cordially invites you to a lecture on the Prison-to-College Pipeline Initiative, titled “Beyond Incarceration: Peace and Citizen Security through Restorative Justice and the Prison-to-College Pipeline Initiative.” The event will be held on April 9, 2025, from 6:00 to 9:00 p.m. at the Cave Hill School of Business and Management, UWI Cave Hill Campus.

Inspired by the Prison-to-College Pipeline (P2CP) programme at John Jay College of Criminal Justice in New York, the P2CP aims to provide incarcerated individuals with access to higher education and improve their reintegration into society. The programme offers courses equivalent to a higher education degree, coupled with crucial re-entry planning, all aimed at breaking down the stigma surrounding incarcerated individuals and fostering their successful return to society. The P2CP has already shown remarkable success in reducing recidivism rates and fostering positive change within communities in the United Kingdom and is currently being implemented in Jamaica and Trinidad.

Join Prof. Corin Bailey, Director of the CCJS, and Prof. Baz Dreisinger, Founding Director of Incarceration Nations Network, as they share their insights on the program’s impact, success stories, and potential for replication in Barbados. This event offers a unique opportunity to explore innovative approaches to restorative justice and contribute to the ongoing dialogue on criminal justice reform.

We believe your expertise and insights would greatly enrich the discussions, and we eagerly anticipate your presence.

Please RSVP by March 10, 2025, to rashida.cox@cavehill.uwi.edu or salises@cavehill.uwi.edu to confirm your attendance.

Thank you for your time, and we look forward to your participation.
